The Koonibba Test Range is the largest commercial test range facility in the Southern Hemisphere. Four times larger than White Sands, the Koonibba Test Range is versatile and equipped with world-class infrastructure to support complex mission testing.

KOONIBBA TEST RANGE

The Koonibba Test Range is the largest commercial rocket and air vehicle testing facility in the world. The range is used to launch sub-orbital missions including hypersonics, flight test drones and other long duration air vehicles.

The Koonibba Test Range offers up to 41,000 square kilometres (15,830 square miles) of range area to conduct complex mission testing of cutting-edge technology. Good year-round weather and low-density air traffic offer lengthy mission windows.

The range is fully instrumented with telemetry, optical and radar systems. The launch pad is equipped with a 16.8 metre launch rail capable of launching rockets up to 4,200kg.

The facility can also receive the return of space technology from orbit inclinations from polar orbit to as low as 32 degrees.

Mission equipment can be housed at Southern Launch’s secure hangar facility at the Ceduna Airport, located 40km from the range.
