Launch

Southern Launch expands space exploration from the Southern Hemisphere with end-to-end launch services for your next space mission.

Our team of leading engineers, project managers, specialists, and regulation experts work with rocket manufacturers and their payload customers to manage all aspects of the space launch.

Unhindered access to space

With stable year-round weather and low air and maritime traffic our two spaceports in South Australia offer unhindered access to space.

The Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex is one of the only sites in the world that can provide high-cadence launches to polar and sun-synchronous orbits.

The Koonibba Test Range is the largest commercial rocket testing facility in the Southern Hemisphere and specialises in suborbital launches and returns from space.

The Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex supports direct ascent trajectories from 55 to 170 degrees including polar, sun-synchronous orbits and 135 degree (equivalent to 45 degree) inclination. Launch customers can access high cadence, direct ascent flight trajectories over the Southern Ocean and Great Australian Bight, maximising spacecraft payload mass and profitability.

The Koonibba Test Range is the largest commercial rocket testing facility in the Southern Hemisphere. The range encompasses up to 41,000 square kilometres and extends up to 350 kilometres over uninhabited land. Rockets and payloads can be recovered from the range to collect data and conduct system validation before flying technology into orbit. The facility is also equipped to receive the return of space technology from space.
